Shannon Dolphin Mural Completed

The dolphin mural on the front of the Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Centre in Kilrush is now completed.

The mural, created by well known wildlife artist Mick O'Clery, which was started in May 2004 was finally completed this weekend. Finances, permission and finally a suitable weather window delayed the progress of the 20x14m big mural.

The mural shows three bottlenose dolphins leaping from the sea with two additional dolphins swimming underwater. In the background the shadowy shapes of dolphins can be seen as the group travel through a heavy sea.

Project Manager Dr Simon Berrow said "I'm delighted, even today on the first day of unveiling we have had Germans, Scottish, Canadian and Croatian visitors saying it was the mural which drew them to the centre".

The Shannon Dolphin and WildlifeCentre will be open daily from June to September, Admission is free.
