Dolphin trail opened in Kilrush

A new dolphin trail, designed to draw together a number of activities and facilities featuring the Shannon dolphins, around the town of Kilrush, Co Clare, was officially opened today.

The trail starts at the Town Square where a new information board on the dolphins has been erected and sweeps down Frances Street to the Millenium Park. Here a sculptor called "First Breath" showing a bottlenose dolphin and calf, by renowned sculpter Danny Osbourne can be found. Also in the park is the first fin on the unique "Fin Trail". From here you can start an invigorating walk along the shores of the estuary to Alylavroo Point where a dolphin board has been erected at this land based watching site.

For those less energetic you can walk down to the Marina and book a dolphin watching trip or visit the Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Founbdation, passing two more fins on the "Fin Trail".
